I was first introduced to yoga by my Mum, she had already been attending a class with a local teacher for several years before I came to a class with her. I then tried several different styles of yoga before moving to London in 2010 and taking break from practicing for a while.
I discovered Viniyoga in 2013 and something shifted. This wasn't yoga as performance. It was yoga as a practice that met you where you were — adapting to your body, your breath, your day. I felt the difference, and I wanted to share it.
After years of working as an Occupational Therapist — supporting people through mental health challenges — I understood, both professionally and personally, how much our bodies and minds are connected. Yoga gave me a way to work with that connection, not just understand it.
After completing my initial teacher training in 2019, I left my job to focus solely on teaching yoga. In the beginning of 2023 I began to feel the need to look for something more and I came across the training being offered as a Yoga Therapist. This really resonated with me, especially given my background as an Occupational Therapist and I took the leap to begin my training.
This course built on what I learned in my initial training and really cemented the idea that yoga has so many wonderful healing benefits (for some many different issues). I am now even more resolute that this is the way forward to help so many people.
I saw first hand how having a yoga practice that is designed specifically for you based on the your current issues (whilst taking into account any other factors) can be transformative for the person and touch them in profound ways.
